We are the Debate Club at New Westminster Secondary School!
Officially, we are a club of over 100 members who we help in becoming better speakers and thinkers.
Unlike other clubs at school, we provide skills to the members as well as volunteering opportunities. We send teams to regional tournaments and have done so for 4 consecutive years!
Give debate a try and see the value in being able to speak up for yourself. Confidence is key, and universities love to see debate students attend their programs.

why debate?
debate is fun, resourceful, exciting, competitive, and a great way to improve logical skills!
what does debate look like?
depending on the format, we either have 8 speakers or 4 speakers in teams of two people. everyone goes for their speech one at a time.
is debate hard?
not at all! it just takes a little bit of courage to stand in front of people for the first time trying to persuade them, but it soon becomes something to look forward to.
